Welcome to the Eastbury House Website. Eastbury House is a Grade II listed Victorian building located right at the heart of Whitby on the West Cliff. Below the West Cliff and within 5 minutes walk is over 2.5 km of blue flag sandy beach ending at the historic village of Sandsend. Over on the East Cliff is the abbey which was founded in 657 by the Abbess Hilda (find out more about local history, events and attractions on our links page) Eastbury House is situated within Belle Vue Terrace which connects to the ancient Skinner Street, famous for it’s quality shopping and the original studio of Victorian photographer Frank Sutcliffe (now a bric-a-brac shop). To the rear is Silver Street with it’s world acclaimed Fish and Chip shop and excellent Tapas Bar.
Close by is the famous whalebone arch and statue of Captain James Cook overlooking the picturesque fishing harbour, with it’s tumble of narrow streets and alley ways along the mouth of the river Esk.
